Issued on: Modified:
Politics dominates: from François Hollande's message to the nation to anger key political figures are being parachuted - or want to be parachuted - into safe seats for June's polls. The French press also takes a look at the presidential campaigns in the US and Senegal. That's the focus for this Tuesday, 3rd January 2012.
The left-wing daily Libération prints the full text of François Hollande’s letter to the nation, in which he says it is ‘time for change’ and that he is there to restore ‘hope’.
Le Figaro leads on Iowa Tuesday: ‘Face à Obama, les républicains cherchent leur candidat’. The editorial compares Romney to Hollande and Sarkozy to Obama.
Le Figaro also reports on Youssou N’Dour’s decision to challenge President Abdoulaye Wade in next month’s presidential election in Senegal.
And Le Parisien/Aujourd’hui-en-France reports that 100 French fans of Michael Jackson are going to take Doctor Conrad Murray to court. They say they suffered severe trauma when Jackson died and want damages.
