Leela Jacinto is an award-winning journalist and war correspondent specialised in the Middle East and South Asia. A senior editor and international news commentator at FRANCE 24, Leela has reported extensively on political Islam, conflict, post-conflict reconstruction and human rights in the region. She has also covered security issues in Africa, including the Sahel and the Horn of Africa regions.
Before FRANCE 24, Leela worked at ABC News, where she reported on the September 11, 2001, attacks in the US and subsequent “war on terror”.
Leela’s reports, essays and columns have appeared in Boston Review, Foreign Policy and The Nation. A graduate of New York University (NYU), she has also taught journalism in Afghanistan and the Middle East.
